Ingredients

  • 1 batch buns ((Ultimate Keto, from KetoDiet Blog))
  • 1 tbsp avocado oil
  • 1/4 cup shelled pistachios
  • 1 tbsp minced ginger
  • 1 clove garlic ((Ultimate Keto, from KetoDiet Blog))
  • 15 oz tomato sauce ((Ultimate Keto, from KetoDiet Blog))
  • 3/4 cup water
  • chillies (Whole)
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 2 tsp curry powder
  • 1 tsp sea salt ((Ultimate Keto, from KetoDiet Blog))
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp cumin seed
  • 1/3 cup white onion ((Ultimate Keto, from KetoDiet Blog))
  • 1 lb ground turkey ((Ultimate Keto, from KetoDiet Blog))
  • 1/4 cup full fat coconut milk
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 handful chopped fresh cilantro ((Ultimate Keto, from KetoDiet Blog))

Instructions

  1. Get started on the Keto Buns first.
  2. Once they’re halfway done, start with your sloppy joe.
  3. Once the buns have cooled, slice them and set aside.Add avocado oil and pistachios to a frying pan and toast on low-medium heat for 4-5 minutes.
  4. Remove from the pan and set aside.Add 2 tablespoons of avocado oil to a medium-sized saucepan and heat on medium heat.
  5. Add minced ginger and garlic.
  6. Cook for 1 minute until brown, then add tomato sauce, water, chilli, garam masala or curry powder (depending on the type of meat you’re using), salt and paprika.
  7. Cover and bring to a boil.
  8. Lower heat and simmer while you continue with the following steps.Add 2 tablespoons avocado oil to a frying pan and heat on low-medium heat.
  9. Add cumin seeds, toast for 1 minute.
  10. Add onion and stir.
  11. Saute for 5 minutes.
  12. Add ground beef and crushed chilli.
  13. Cook until meat is no longer pink.Transfer cooked meat to tomato sauce.
  14. Cover and bring to a boil, on medium.
  15. Tilt the lid off just a bit, to let the steam escape.
  16. Simmer on low-medium for about 15 minutes, until the mixture thickens up.Once complete, stir in coconut milk, apple cider vinegar and toasted pistachios.
